Based in Las Vegas, Skybox has its early roots in Kentucky where managing partner Barry F. Tilford cut his teeth in the promotion/radio broadcast ownership business under the tutelage of the late William E. Summers, III, who ironically was the first African-American chairman of the Kentucky Derby Festival. Since opening its doors in 2001, The Skybox Team that includes Tilford and general partners Phil Barner have more than 50 years of promoting, producing and distributing movies and music throughout the U.S. Each of the Skybox partners is Kentucky natives or has ties. Barner and Tilford were former basketball players at Kentucky State in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Skybox is currently filming “Casino Comedy”, an off-beat movie that will showcase some of the top comedians and celebrity actors. Skybox and Tilford has also worked as a consultant for the minor league baseball Louisville River bats. Tilford is also co-founder of ZCOM, a telecommunications firm he helped start with former Kentucky native Junior Johnson.
